American Sleepover Party tomorrow night in Stuttgart.

Debuting a new work, American Sleepover Party, tomorrow evening in Stuttgart as part of the Lange Nacht der Museen. My work will be in Akademie Schloss Solitude’s group show, Römer XIV.

American Sleepover Party is a nostalgic comfort installation, designed for participation and habitability. Utilizing some of the ideas of Party Box, this work is dependent on spatial cues as a trigger of human behavior.

In fact although these items are nostalgic for me, they are not a nostalgia from my own life. I spent very little time around pink sparkly things, flowered pillows, and other stereotypical “girl stuff.” Still, the aesthetic of female tween items holds a lot of power over me in a strange way. Perhaps others will have a similar response.
